1. Should I sleep with my dentures in my mouth?

-They say that you should take your dentures out before you retire to bed. A lot of people clench or grind their teeth in their sleep. Patients have told me that they wake up with a sore jaw. The experts say to give your mouth a break or rest and leave your dentures out at night and soak them in a cup of water. I know some people can not handle their teeth out at night and I tell them to take their teeth out in the morning when they are showering or shaving. Any break from the mouth helps the tissue to breath easier.

2. What should I do with my old dentures after I have received my new dentures?

-After your new dentures feel great and you have no more sore spots, you should put your old dentures in a small baggy filled with water and zip lock them. You then put them in your freezer and save them for emergencies only. This is the best way to save your dentures for long periods of time. If you put them in a drawer they will dry out and if you leave them in water for a long period of time, algae forms.

3. Do I need a referral to see a denturist?

-No, you do not need a referral to see a denturist. A denturist will refer you to a dentist or physician if during your evaluation it is found that you would benefit from their services.

4. How often should I replace my dentures?

-Over time, due to normal wear and tear, dentures might need to be relined or rebased. If you feel your dentures are starting to feel loose or are not fitting properly, it is probably time for a consultation so that your denturist can evaluate your dentures to make sure you get the most from your dentures.

5. Can I get a price quote over the phone?

-We, at the Kingston Denture Clinic, understand how valuable your time is. However, because dentures are customized to each individual's particular needs, we are unable to provide you with a price quote over the phone. We will be more than happy to schedule you for a visit and after a full evaluation of your needs, we will provide you with a quote for the services that would benefit your particular case.
